Cassy
Cassy, born Catherine Britton in Kingston upon Thames, London, is a DJ of mixed Barbadian and Austrian heritage who was raised in the Austrian countryside before her career took shape in Berlin's club scene. She began DJing at Vienna's Flex club and attended the week-long closing party for Ostgut, the Friedrichshain freight depot that preceded Berghain, on New Year's Eve 2002, an experience that led her to relocate from Geneva to Berlin in February 2003. She spent seven years deeply embedded in Berlin's electronic scene, securing a residency at Panorama Bar within Berghain and collaborating with Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Bug, Luciano and Mathew Jonson, releasing across Perlon, Ostgut Ton and Cocoon, three labels central to the city's minimal and house sound. In 2006 she mixed the compilation "Panorama Bar 01," documenting her residency sound for a wider audience beyond the club's walls, and she released a debut album titled "Donna." After a divorce she moved to Paris before eventually returning to Vienna, continuing to play both underground venues and larger stages including Tomorrowland. Her sets move between intimate house and techno textures and bigger festival crowds, a range built from her years inside Berlin's most influential club rooms.
