Busy P
Busy P is the DJ and producer alias of Pedro Winter, born Pierre Winter in Paris, who has spent decades shaping the city's electronic scene as both a performer and label boss. Winter began DJing in Paris in 1995 and managed Daft Punk from 1996 to 2008, a period that placed him at the center of the French Touch movement described by the New York Times as making him its de facto ambassador. In 2003 he founded Ed Banger Records, signing acts including Justice, SebastiAn, Uffie, DJ Mehdi, Mr.
Oizo and Breakbot, and shaping a label sound that fused electro, disco, hip-hop and rock with instantly recognizable artwork. As Busy P, Winter has released his own DJ-facing productions on Ed Banger, including "Rainbow Man," "Pedrophilia," "Still Busy" and "Genie" featuring Mayer Hawthorne, alongside the 2011 EP Let the Children Techno made with DJ Mehdi. He continues to perform as a DJ internationally while running Ed Banger's roster and reissue campaigns, including the 2023 compilation Support Your Local Record Label.
In 2016, the French Minister of Culture awarded Winter the insignia of Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of his contribution to French music culture. Winter's dual role as a DJ and a label figurehead has kept him central to French electronic music for close to three decades, bridging Daft Punk-era house with the electro-rock sound Ed Banger became known for.
