Boy George
Boy George has run a parallel career as a working DJ since the mid-1990s, having played his first set at Phillip Sallon's Planets club in London's Piccadilly. Ministry of Sound hired him to compile some of its earliest CDs, and he went on to mix the club's Annual I through Annual IV series after his contribution to the Fantazia House Collection 2 went gold in the UK. He founded the dance label More Protein in 1989, later releasing electronica under the pseudonym The Twin and issuing seven DJ albums across his career.
In 2007 he undertook an international DJ tour, appearing as guest DJ at Perth's Court Hotel, Sydney's Mardi Gras Festival and the Palazzo Versace launch in Dubai, followed by a 30-date UK tour later that year. He also held a DJ residency at London's Shaw Theatre beginning in January 2008. His dance-side collaborations include work with Faithless, Groove Armada and remixer Marc Vedo, and Mixmag has featured his DJ career alongside his music history.
His More Protein label and recurring club and festival DJ bookings place him firmly within house and club culture despite his wider recognition as a singer.
