Borgore — Gorestep DJ & Label FounderBorgore
Yosef Asaf Borger, known as Borgore, is an Israeli DJ born in Holon and raised in Tel Aviv. Formerly the drummer in the Israeli deathcore band Shabira, he built an electronic career around a style he calls Gorestep. The sound is rooted in dubstep but uses triplet drum patterns, heavy-metal influence, horror-film sonics and deliberately provocative themes.
Borgore later lived in Los Angeles from 2012 before returning to Israel in November 2023. His DJ and production work has regularly crossed into rap and other bass-driven forms rather than staying within a single electronic lane. He founded Buygore Records, giving the project a label platform, and has also released on Dim Mak, Spinnin', Sumerian, Armada and other labels.
In 2011, he co-produced Yelawolf's Animal with Diplo, and the following year released Decisions with backing vocals from Miley Cyrus. His profile as a DJ is defined less by a fixed residency calendar than by the distinctive musical framework and label ecosystem he has built around bass music. By carrying the drummer's sense of impact into that world and setting it against a genre-defying roster of collaborations, Borgore has made Gorestep the concise name for his DJ identity.
