Bombs Away — Electro House DJ DuoBombs Away
Bombs Away are the Australian brothers Matthew Coleman, known as Sketch, and Thomas Coleman, known as Tommy Shades, who formed the project between 2009 and 2010 out of Australia's Gold Coast and Perth club scenes. Their single Party Bass became a top 40 hit in 2012 and reached number one in Australia and number 32 worldwide on TheDJList rankings, a breakthrough that pushed the duo from domestic club dates onto the wider Australian festival circuit.
The track's success earned Bombs Away an ARIA Award nomination, a rare instance of an electro house DJ act receiving recognition from Australia's mainstream music industry awards. Their sets combined big-room electro house with party-focused, crowd-driven track selection, a style built for the festival stages and club nights that made up the bulk of their touring during the early 2010s.
Matthew Coleman later departed the project, leaving Thomas Coleman to continue performing and releasing under the Bombs Away name as a solo act. The brothers' run from Gold Coast clubs to a national number one and ARIA nomination placed Bombs Away among the more commercially successful Australian electro house exports of their period, with Party Bass remaining their best-known set staple.
