Blank & Jones — Trance DJ & Production Duo

Blank & Jones are a German DJ and production duo formed in Cologne in 1995 by Piet Blank, born Jan Pieter Blank on 15 June 1971, and René Runge, known as Jaspa Jones, born 27 June 1968; Andy Kaufhold, known as N-D-K, has also been part of the project. Piet Blank first played records at 16 and Runge began DJing at 19, and the pair built their live reputation at major German rave events including Love Parade, StreetParade and Mayday before extending their DJ bookings into the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Canada, Mexico, South America and Australia. In their DJ sets, Blank & Jones mix using Final Scratch and build roughly 60 percent of each set from their own productions and edits, a practice they have described as making every performance distinct in selection and sound. The duo released a run of mix compilations, including two volumes of Trance Mix USA and multiple editions of The Mix series through the early and mid-2000s, alongside the Peaktime compilation series. Piet Blank also hosts Club Mix, a two-hour radio show broadcast on Lufthansa flights, and the duo have worked as moderators on the German TV programs Eins Live-TV and Viva-Clubrotation.
