Beltek
Beltek is the production and DJ alias of Slovenian artist Martin Bijelić, whose career took off in 2007 when his track "Copacabana" won Pete Tong's producer competition on BBC Radio 1. The win proved a turning point: British DJ and producer Chris Lake subsequently signed the track to his label Rising Trax, and it went on to receive regular airplay on XM Satellite Radio across the United States and Canada, building Beltek an audience well beyond Slovenia. The exposure led fellow Slovenian producer Umek to reach out, and the two began a studio collaboration that quickly yielded results, including the track "Army of Two." Beltek's sound blends tech house, house and progressive elements, and his catalog includes collaborations and remix work for Toolroom, Ministry of Sound, Armada and Spinnin', as well as remixes of Faithless, Shakira and Gareth Emery. His records have drawn DJ support from Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn and John O'Callaghan, reflecting Beltek's crossover appeal between tech-driven club music and more melodic festival trance. He remains associated with the Slovenian house and techno scene that Umek helped establish internationally, continuing to release music and perform as a DJ across Europe under the Beltek name.
