Bad Boy Bill — House & Electro DJBad Boy Bill
Bad Boy Bill, born William Renkosik, is an American DJ from Chicago who began his career in 1985 during the city's house music movement while still in his teens. He worked alongside Mike Hitman Wilson and Julian Jumpin Perez of the WBMX DJ mixing team known as the Hot Mix 5, building his early reputation by DJing parties throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and opening for the group. He became a regular DJ on house mixes broadcast on WBMX 102.7 FM, WGCI 107.5 FM, and later the pop station B96 96.3 FM, giving him a sustained radio presence alongside his club work.
As a remixer, he landed his first Top Five Billboard Dance Chart hit at age 19 with Dada Nada's Deep Love, a track that also featured remixes from Frankie Knuckles and David Morales. Bad Boy Bill placed in the top three at the Disco Mix Club DJ championships in both 1988 and 1989, and between 1987 and 1995 he produced a long-running series of promotional mixtapes under the name Street DJ Promotions, distributed directly to Chicago record shops and DJ gigs from his car. He is known for mixing across six separate turntables at once and made an uncredited appearance as a club DJ in the 1998 film Blade.
He continues to perform, working across house and electro styles.
