Artbat
Artbat is a Ukrainian DJ and production duo from Kyiv formed in 2014 by Artur Kryvenko and Vitaliy Batish Limarenko, both experienced local DJs before they began producing together. Their breakthrough came just three months into the partnership with Mandrake, a track that British DJ Richie Hawtin played in his sets for a full year, giving the pair early credibility on the international techno circuit.
In 2017 their track Uplift appeared on a compilation for Solomun's label Diynamic, opening a run of further EPs on the label, and in 2018 their single Taboo topped Beatport's deep house chart for 11 weeks. The duo's 2019 was defined by industry recognition, winning the Breakthrough category at the DJ Awards, being named Mixmag's Stars of the Year and becoming Beatport's best-selling artist that year.
In 2021 they launched their own label, Upperground, with the single Flame, giving them a platform independent of Diynamic for subsequent releases. Artbat's DJ sets, built on melodic techno and house, have taken them from Kyiv clubs to major festival stages internationally, and their catalogue continues to anchor sets played by other touring DJs across the techno and melodic house scene.
