About Art Department
Art Department, formed in Toronto in 2009 by Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow, is a DJ and production act that built its early reputation on international touring before Glasgow's departure left White to continue the project as a solo artist. During their five years together, the duo produced two albums along with a run of singles, but White has emphasised that he personally compiled all of Art Department's mixes throughout that touring period, underscoring the DJ-facing side of the group's work.
That mixing background led to White completing Fabric 82 for London's Fabric nightclub, part of the label's long-running mix-compilation series that documents touring DJs' live sets. Toronto-based in its origins, Art Department became closely associated with the deep house revival of the early 2010s, with both members already established as producers in Canada's dance scene before teaming up.
White has continued fronting the project through additional remix packages and releases connected to the Natural Selection album, maintaining Art Department's presence on club bills after the duo's split. The act's trajectory, from a Toronto house-party meeting between two working producers to a Fabric-endorsed touring name, reflects a career built substantially around DJ sets alongside its production catalogue.
