Armin van Buuren
Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren is a Dutch DJ from Leiden whose route into electronic music ran alongside a law degree. He became one of trance's most visible figures through seamless mixing, a perfectionist streak and sets that balance the genre's melodic core with EDM scale. In 2001 he launched A State of Trance, a weekly radio show that has passed 1,000 episodes and reaches about 40 million listeners; it remains central to his curatorial identity.
He also co-founded Armada Music in 2003, helping build it into a major independent dance label. Van Buuren has held Ibiza residencies at Privilege, Ushuaïa Beach Hotel and Hï Ibiza, and his live calendar has included Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami and A State of Trance festival editions across Utrecht, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Melbourne and Mexico. In 2013, he became the first solo dance artist to headline Madison Square Garden and also performed for the Dutch King and Queen with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
A five-time DJ Mag Top 100 winner, he was Grammy-nominated for This Is What It Feels Like. His Amsterdam ArenA anniversary show and worldwide ASOT community underline how his radio work and DJ sets have developed together.
