Apashe

Apashe is the alias of John De Buck, a Brussels-born, Montreal-based electronic producer and touring performer who works in the space where dubstep, trap, neurofunk and full orchestral scoring meet. He signed to Montreal's Kannibalen Records as the label's first artist in 2011 after moving to Canada aged 19, and has since built an unusually cinematic live and DJ show around his own catalogue.

His 2020 album Renaissance was recorded with 69 members of the Prague Symphony Orchestra and reworked for a Renaissance 2.0 audiovisual tour, followed by the Antagonist run of dates that pairs his hybrid live rig with visuals and orchestral samples on North American, European and Australian stages via bookings such as Relentless Beats' Phoenix shows. Sets stay rooted in dense sound design, heavy-bass drops and classical motifs, drawing on collaborators including Wasiu, Instasamka and Panther.

Apashe has been supported by peers across the bass-music circuit including Skrillex, Diplo and Zeds Dead. He also runs the Majestic Collective imprint, which extends the orchestral-bass template beyond his own releases while keeping his festival, club and headline appearances as the primary channel for the music.
