Annie Mac
Annie Mac, born Annie Macmanus, an Irish DJ and broadcaster whose first BBC Radio 1 programme aired on 29 July 2004 and who went on to host BBC Switch, Radio 1's Future Sounds and Radio 1's Dance Party before taking over Zane Lowe's evening slot in February 2015. Across 17 years at Radio 1, ending with her final show on 30 July 2021, she championed dance and electronic music to a mainstream UK audience and performed her first live Radio 1 set as part of an Essential Mix broadcast from the Big Weekend in Dundee in 2006.
She launched Annie Mac Presents: Lost & Found Festival in Malta in 2015, an event she continued to curate annually, and was named the country's Festival Ambassador in 2018. Her AMP club nights extended that brand into Ibiza and other markets, and from 2014 she hosted Annie Mac Presents on SiriusXM in the United States.
She released an annual Annie Mac Presents compilation series from 2009, won Best Female at the drum and bass awards in 2009, and in 2023 supported Harry Styles at Slane Castle in front of more than 80,000 people. She now co-hosts the podcast Sidetracked with former Radio 1 colleague Nick Grimshaw.
