Âme
Âme is the German house and techno duo of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, who first met in 2000 at Beyer's record shop, Plattentasche, in their hometown of Karlsruhe and began producing tracks together the following year, drawing on Chicago house and Detroit techno alongside a wide range of other influences. Their early releases came through Sonar Kollektiv starting in 2003, and Mixmag named Âme its Duo of the Year in 2006, early recognition of a sound that would go on to shape a decade of melodic house and techno. Beyer and Wiedemann went on to found Innervisions in Berlin together with fellow DJ and producer Dixon, a label the pair still own and manage and one that has become closely associated with the deep, melodic strand of German house music heard across major club and festival stages worldwide. Âme's catalogue also spans Ostgut Ton and Rush Hour, further tying the duo to Berlin's club institutions, and their DJ sets remain a regular fixture at top clubs and festivals internationally. More than two decades after their first meeting in a Karlsruhe record shop, Beyer and Wiedemann continue to perform and release as Âme while running Innervisions as one of house music's most respected label platforms.
