Alejandro Montero
Alejandro Montero is a Buenos Aires-based DJ and producer who began his career in 1993 on FM Energy 101.1, a pioneering Argentine electronic music station, working as a music programmer and guest DJ at station parties. In 1997 the label Oid Mortales brought him on as a staff producer, and that same year the Vynil discotheque at Palacio Alsina in Buenos Aires named him resident DJ.
His first record, released by Oid Mortales in Argentina in 1999, also reached the United States that year through Strictly Rhythm, and he won the Best New DJ award that year as well. He toured clubs in Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay and undertook a joint tour of Buenos Aires and Cordoba with Westbam, the German DJ credited with founding Berlin's Love Parade.
Montero appeared as both a DJ and panelist on MuchMusic programming for Latin America in 1999, and in 2000 he mixed a compilation featuring tracks by Miss Kittin & The Hacker and Judge Jules. Now working as a musical director and executive producer, Montero continues to host radio programming in Buenos Aires, including Greatest Hits on Radio Beat, extending a three-decade career rooted in Argentina's electronic music scene.
