Ak1200
AK1200 is the drum and bass and jungle alias of Florida-based producer Dave Minner, credited with helping popularize the genre in the United States through relentless live performances, remix work and free sets. In 2000 he teamed with Diesel Boy and DJ Dara to launch the annual Planet of the Drums tour, a package run that carried jungle and drum and bass to American club audiences. His DJ mix output includes Lock & Roll: A Drum & Bass DJ Mix in 1999 and the live recording Mixed Live: Moonshine Over America, San Francisco in 2001, both capturing his sets from that period. He began producing in 1993 with a remix of Flex and Fats' Somebody for Suburban Base Records, and his debut album SHOOTTOKILL was co-produced with Rob Playford of Moving Shadow, a partnership that reinforced his standing in the transatlantic jungle scene. His subsequent releases, including Fully Automatic, Prepare for Assault and Weapons of Tomorrow, along with collaborative work with Gridlok and Liquid, have continued to circulate through American drum and bass sets and radio mixes tied to his DJ career.
