Airwave
Airwave is the performing name of Laurent Véronnez, a Brussels-born progressive trance producer and DJ whose catalog spans more than 300 released records under his own name and various aliases including Lolo, Planisphere and Fire and Ice. Véronnez released his first tracks on the Bonzai label in 1996, and by 1998 his breakout record as Airwave, "I Want to Believe," had been picked up by Sasha and Paul Oakenfold, with a then-emerging Tiësto also incorporating it into sets, spreading Airwave's sound through the UK and Dutch trance scenes before reaching Germany, Italy and beyond by 1999.
He has performed live and DJ sets at major venues and festivals including Antwerp's Sportpaleis, Tomorrowland, Dance Valley in the Netherlands and the Auckland Town Hall, alongside club dates worldwide. Véronnez hosts LCD Sessions, a monthly radio show broadcast on the Trance channel of Digitally Imported, positioning his progressive trance sound within a dedicated online radio format.
His mix compilation In The Mix 001: Progressive Sessions reflects an effort to bridge the more melodic edge of progressive house with the trance sound most associated with his name, while avoiding elements of the genre he has said he actively dislikes. More than 25 years after his first release, Véronnez continues to perform as Airwave and produce under his various aliases, remaining a reference name within Belgian and broader European progressive trance.
