Aeroplane

Aeroplane, the stage name of Vito de Luca, is a Belgian nu-disco DJ and producer known for a sound the act has described as spacious cosmic disco. Originally a duo with Stephen Fasano, who left in 2010 and now performs as The Magician, Aeroplane built its reputation through remixes rooted in French house and Balearic beat, drawing pickup from prominent radio DJs, including BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong.

Aeroplane was selected as the 500th Essential Mixer on Tong's long-running BBC Radio 1 show in April 2010, an anniversary broadcast extended from two hours to four, during which Pete Tong, Sasha and Richie Hawtin also played sets to mark the occasion. De Luca released Aeroplane's debut album, We Can't Fly, in September 2010 after twelve months of studio work, featuring guest vocals from Au Revoir Simone, Merry Clayton, Sky Ferreira and Jonathan Jeremiah, and the record received an 8 out of 10 review from Spin magazine.

Since Fasano's departure, de Luca has continued the project as a solo act, producing 1980s-influenced disco material and remixes that circulate widely among DJs working in nu-disco and cosmic disco. His remix work, picked up by touring DJs internationally, has extended Aeroplane's reach well beyond its original Belgian base.
