A Skillz

A Skillz is the DJ name of Adam Mills, a breakbeat and nu-funk selector from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, who built his reputation through residencies at FabricLive, Spectrum, Chew The Fat, Supercharged, The Boutique and Sugarbeat. Signed to Finger Lickin' Records, he made his name mixing hip hop, soul, funk and rock with dubstep, drum and bass and electro, an approach that carried across his 2003 debut album "TrickaTechnology," made with fellow breakbeat DJ Krafty Kuts and featuring guest turns from Kurtis Blow and Real Elements.

The pair toured the UK together on the TrickaTechnology Tour in 2004, playing Glastonbury and Pacha Ibiza the same year, and A Skillz later mixed a session for BBC Radio 1's Steve Lamacq. His first solo tour of Australia in October 2004 sold out venues in every major capital city, and he went on to play international dates at the Hit Factory in New York, Miami's WMC and Sydney's Field Day.

A 2005 mini-mix he made for Annie Mac was voted Radio 1 listeners' best of the year, ahead of entries from Basement Jaxx and Mylo. In February 2012 he won Best DJ at the Breakspoll International Breaks Music Poll, cementing his standing within the UK breakbeat scene he has represented for two decades.
