Roger Shah

Roger Shah, born Roger-Pierre Shah on 29 November 1972 in Esslingen am Neckar, is a German trance DJ who began his career in 1996 and built his profile through a run of long-running radio shows tied directly to his DJ practice. From 2001 to 2007 he co-hosted Mellomania with Pedro del Mar on Radio Sunshine Live, a weekly show that established his profile within German trance radio, and since 2 May 2008 he has hosted Magic Island - Music for Balearic People on Digitally Imported, a two-hour weekly show pairing trance and progressive tracks with Balearic chill-out selections. Also known under the aliases DJ Shah, Sunlounger and Black Pearl, Shah founded Magic Island Records, which became a sublabel of Black Hole Recordings in 2008 and serves as an outlet tied to both his radio show and his club sets. He has released on Black Hole and Anjunabeats, and Insomniac credits him as a five-time DJ Mag Top 100 artist with more than 1,000 releases distributed across over 160 countries. Shah performs live using a wireless keyboard alongside his own productions, a hands-on approach to his sets that has become one of his recognizable stage traits across his balearic trance-focused touring career.
