Rafa Barrios
Rafa Barrios is a tech house DJ and producer from Seville, born in 1986, whose sound is tied to what his label describes as the Iberican tech house style, an underground current specific to the Iberian Peninsula influenced by Chus & Ceballos. His track Horizont on Stereo Productions is described as groove-driven, built around a playful mid-to-low-frequency sub-bass and a breakdown featuring a melodic arpeggio, and joining the Stereo Productions roster marked a stated career goal for him. Beyond Stereo, Barrios has released through Intec Digital, Tronic, KD Music, Suara, Liebe Detail, Toolroom Records, Yoshitoshi and Agile Recordings, and he also runs his own label, Dood Records. He has described his musical philosophy as working on tracks the way he would dance to them on the floor, aiming to make audiences move rather than chasing a particular technical showcase. That broad label footprint across some of tech house's most established imprints, paired with his own label venture, situates Barrios within the Spanish tech house scene's production side, with his club and festival DJ work built around the same groove-first, dancefloor-oriented approach reflected in his catalogue of remixes and original tracks.
