Four Tet
Four Tet, the project of English musician Kieran Hebden, is a DJ whose extended sets have become as central to his reputation as his studio albums. Hebden emerged from the post-rock band Fridge before establishing a solo career with albums including Rounds, Everything Ecstatic, and There Is Love in You, but his DJ practice has run parallel throughout, including marathon sets such as a seven-hour performance at Sonar and a widely shared 4.5-hour set from Los Angeles.
He has performed joint DJ sets with American producer Skrillex and British producer Fred again.., pairings that drew attention for bridging underground electronic music with festival-scale audiences, including an appearance at Coachella. Hebden has also produced albums for American improvisational group Sunburned Hand of the Man and Syrian dabke singer Omar Souleyman, and arranged Madlib's 2021 album Sound Ancestors, work that feeds into the eclectic selections he brings to his own DJ sets.
His remix catalog, spanning Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Bicep, and Lana Del Rey, further reflects the range he draws from behind the decks. Hebden's willingness to blend genres, from house and folktronica to IDM, within long-form live sets has made his DJ performances a distinct strand of his broader career as an electronic musician.
