D.A.V.E. the Drummer

D.A.V.E. The Drummer, the name used by Henry Cullen, is a UK acid and hard techno DJ who has been producing since 1993 and DJing since 1997, with roots in London's illegal warehouse party scene of the 1990s. He owns three labels, Hydraulix, Apex Recordings, and Mutate To Survive, giving him direct control over the release of his own tracks as well as those of other hard techno producers.

Cullen performs using Traktor Scratch, a digital vinyl setup that lets him mix using traditional turntable technique alongside digital track libraries, a method common among techno DJs bridging analogue and digital approaches. His time in London's warehouse party circuit during the acid house and early rave era shaped the harder, more stripped-back techno sound that has defined his releases and sets since. Running three separate labels has let D.A.V.E.

The Drummer maintain a steady release schedule across different strands of hard and acid techno, and his club and festival bookings continue to draw on the warehouse-rooted sound he developed during the formative years of the UK's underground rave scene.
