Carl Cox

Carl Cox is a British DJ who emerged from the London rave scene of the 1980s, including Shoom and Sunrise raves, before becoming a leading figure in techno, acid house and house. His DJing is distinguished by three-deck technique and adventurous underground programming, an approach that has carried from early raves to long-form Ibiza sets. At a 1988 Sunrise rave, Cox played a three-turntable set for 15,000 people.

His relationship with Ibiza became especially defining through Music is Revolution at Space Ibiza, a residency that ran from 2001 to 2016. He closed that era in September 2016 with a ten-hour set using vinyl and CDJs. Elsewhere, his club history includes fabric and XOYO in London, plus Amnesia, Sands and DC10 in Ibiza.

Cox has also appeared at Tomorrowland and The BPM Festival, while his Carl Cox & Friends stage has been part of Ultra Music Festival since 2004. Beyond the booth, he founded Intec Records in 1999, relaunched as Intec Digital in 2010, and hosted the Global radio show, which reached more than 17 million weekly listeners in 35 countries. His long career reflects a commitment to club culture as much as spectacle.
