Armand van Helden

Armand Van Helden is a Boston-born DJ, producer and remixer whose career traces back to a residency at The Loft, a members-only Boston club where he worked as both promoter and house DJ after returning to the city in 1988. That formative period, alongside contemporaries such as DJ Bruno, shaped the deep house sensibility he carried into a career spanning more than three decades. Van Helden scored UK number-one hits with "You Don't Know Me" and his remix of Tori Amos's "Professional Widow," records that helped define Ibiza-era house music through the late 1990s and 2000s.

As one half of Duck Sauce alongside A-Trak, he reached a new commercial peak with "Barbra Streisand," and their track "Bonkers," made with Dizzee Rascal, was played at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. In 2015 he revisited his formative years with Masterpiece, a three-disc mix compilation for Ministry of Sound, devoting an entire disc titled "The Loft: Boston" to the club and sound that launched his DJ career. Van Helden has continued to tour internationally as a solo DJ and as part of Duck Sauce, maintaining a genre range that spans house, nu-disco, garage and breakbeat.

His induction into a lineage of house pioneers alongside figures such as Goldie reflects a career built first on club residencies rather than studio output alone, with the Boston underground scene remaining a persistent reference point in his sets and interviews.
